Research + Outreach: Ball State CBER 2007-2012

The Center for Business and Economic Research at Ball State University experienced a makeover in 2007.  A new director and a new mission reshaped the center into an office focused on current issues in business, government, and economy.  The center collaborated with other talents on campus, especially the office of Building Better Communities, an initiative to improve Indiana’s communities, which resulted in projects like the Indiana Community Asset Inventory and Rankings.

CBER wanted a printed piece to showcase its growth over the last five years, sort of a cross between an annual report and a promotional publication.  I stuck closely to the Ball State brand and created a strong visual hierarchy with plenty of white space to really highlight the work (as shown in cover images) and the concepts (as displayed in the headings).  The result is a publication that is easy to flip through, but has an engaging design that emphasizes the breadth of our work.
